This session explores how to use automations throughout the SDLC to reduce toil and improve the developer experience. We’ll discuss what are the different types of toil and how they show up across different types of engingeering teams, how to prioritize different types of toil based on your context, what you can do to address toil, automation best practices to reduce toil, emerging tools addressing toil, and critical opportunities in the developer experience to automate / reduce toil.

I joined Samuel Sentongo on stage for a self-moderated discussion of how we've created our career journeys in technology - Samuel, in cybersecurity as a individual contributor + angel investor, and me, in software development as an individual contributor and people manager.

Presented on the basics of the software development lifecycle. Walked through examples of partnering with stakeholders in order to establish an MVP, build the software product, and prepare for launch.

An event to provide Hidden Genius members with information about what our creators experience as streamers on Twitch, such as what technology they use, how they set up a livestream and what talents they utilize to build communities around their stream.

Ray Apollo led with a 45 minute lesson on how to functionally stream. After, Mel De Leon moderated a panel with myself, Leon Noel and Aaron Brooks on the particulars of learning in public, creation educational and technical communities, and the journey to being a content creator in a technical space.

In this talk, I aim to provide resources for how to proactively prepare for engineering management. In particular, we’ll look at some ways to frame the common types of Engineering Managers (there’s different types?!?), how their work tends to breakdown across a couple of key areas, and some strategies we can enact to build the skill.
